Restoring Barton Springs Pool Below the Surface
When people think about maintaining a historic swimming area like Barton Springs Pool, most of the work they notice happens above the waterline. But on this recent project, the real work happened below the surface.
Over approximately 10 days, the AUS Dredge & Dive team performed underwater demolition, commercial diving, and dredging services to help restore the pool’s condition and functionality. The project included demolishing and removing an aging concrete skimmer pipe, along with diver-assisted sediment removal throughout the pool.
Working in an environmentally sensitive and highly visible location requires precision, planning, and experienced commercial divers. By combining underwater demolition with targeted dredging operations, the team safely removed debris and accumulated sediment while protecting the pool’s integrity.
The end result was a noticeably cleaner, more pristine swimming environment and improved overall conditions below the surface.
Projects like this highlight the value of proactive underwater maintenance—not only for appearance, but also for long-term performance, safety, and water quality.
