Keep Your Intake Above the Muck!

Sediment and debris around a pond-bottom intake can mean repeated cleaning, maintenance, and irrigation interruptions. AUS Dredge and Dive’s floating intake screen system suspends the screen below the water’s surface, away from accumulated bottom sediment.

We assemble the complete system in our shop and provide professional installation by our commercial divers. Designed primarily for golf course irrigation ponds, our systems also serve municipal raw-water intake applications.

A Better Position For Your Intake

When an intake screen sits on the pond bottom, sand, muck, and debris can collect around it and restrict water flow. A floating system raises the screen above those deposits and moves with changing water levels.

That position helps:

  • Reduce exposure to bottom sediment and debris.
  • Reduce sediment-related clogging and cleaning.
  • Minimize pump damage
  • Support consistent irrigation operation.
  • Easier service access near the surface.

How It Works

A heavy-duty hose connects your existing intake line to a suspended screen. A foam-filled fiberglass float supports the assembly, allowing the screen to rise and fall with the water level.

The screen is suspended at a depth approximately 1½ times its size. For example, a 36-inch screen sits approximately 54 inches—or 4½ feet—below the surface.

AUS can help select the hose and screen size for your application and help determine the connection needed for your existing intake line.

A Complete System, Professionally Installed

Your system includes:

  • Gel coated fiberglass float
  • Stainless steel box screen
  • Sling/support hardware
  • 20-ft steel wire helix hose with ANSI Class 150 flanges
  • Connection hardware
  • Installation by AUS commercial divers (optional)

Available hose sizes include 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 24 inches, with square screens ranging from 16 to 32 inches.

Some intake lines require a hugger band for attachment. If you’re unsure what type of intake you have, our divers can inspect it and determine the appropriate connection.

Built and Supported by AUS

AUS has more than 26 years of experience installing floating intake systems. We manufacture the floating systems in our shop, and our commercial divers can install, inspect, and maintain your system as needed.

You can work with the same team throughout the life of your system, from the initial intake assessment to future service and replacement parts.

Is a Floating Intake Right For Your Pond?

Floating intakes are especially useful where sand, sediment, and debris repeatedly collect around or cover an existing intake.

Elevating the screen may help defer dredging needed specifically to uncover or maintain access to the intake. It does not remove accumulated sediment or restore lost pond capacity. AUS can assess whether a floating intake, dredging, or a combination would best address your pond’s conditions.

Inspection and Ongoing Service

AUS recommends inspecting the system every two years. We provide replacement parts and can inspect, clean, and maintain the assembly as needed.
